1. With the rifle pointed in a safe direction, pull back on the operating rod handle and make certain the firearm is not loaded. 2. Depress the magazine release. 3. Pivot the magazine forward and remove. 4. Pull back on the operating rod handle to disengage the bolt stop. 5. Push rear of trigger guard to the rear and unlock. 6. Lift the barrel and receiver group out of the stock. 7. Open the butt plate assembly cover. 8. Loosen the lower butt plate screw. 9. Loosen the upper butt plate screw. 10. Remove the butt plate assembly. 11. Note arrow in figure 26 pointing to notch in receiver. 12. Pull the operating rod to rear of receiver to notch. 13. Lift operating rod out of the notch and pivot out of the operating rod guide at front of the operating rod. 14. Pull the bolt out of the receiver. 15. Loosen the flash suppressor’s round nut set screw. 16. Remove flash suppressor. 17. Separate flash suppressor and nut. 18. Remove the gas cylinder plug. 19. Slide the gas cylinder wrench off of the gas cylinder lock. 20. Cycle the bolt.
